On Japan

Time cannot go fast enough for me.

In a few days, I will boarding a plane and heading off to the country I already call my second home. Japan has always been a fascinating place and I always discover something new and exciting each time I visit it.

I’m dying to visit the Ghibli Museum again as well as the temples in Kyoto. DisneySea will also be in my itinerary since I never miss a chance to go to the my happy place whenever I could. I’m also going to visit a maid cafe in Akihabara (my first time!)

I love you Japan! I can’t wait to see you again!

Last Chow In Macau

I’m finally back in my regular programming. Thank you to my dear friend, Diane, for taking the time from her hard-earned vacation to fix up my website. I really should start studying CSS in case something happens again in the future.

Anyway, this will be my last post about Macau. I’m pretty sure most of you are tired of seeing pictures of the same country for the last few months. Forgive me, I just had so much to share with everyone. I do hope you enjoyed reading up on my adventures in Macau though.

The pictures above are of the last meal I took in Restaurante Vela Latina. It’s located just in front of the Senado Square. I wonder if anyone can tell me what’s the name of the food I ate in the middle pictures. It was the most memorable dish I ate in Macau and I regret not writing down the name of this dish. If you happen to chance upon this restaurant order the same dish. You won’t regret it!

Also, I’m going to Japan at the end of October and staying there for a month. I can’t wait! The next updates I will have are all going to be about my application for visa, my itinerary, and packing. I’m so excited! I’ll definitely keep you all posted. Until then!

Macau Grand Prix Museum

I just watched Cars 2 yesterday with the boyfriend. It was a funny, feel-good movie and it was a welcome relief after getting depressed over One Day. Cars 2 reminded me of visiting the Macau Grand Prix Museum.

Located in a basement, few people would notice the small museum unless they did prior research about it. Shame, really. I know my guy friends will go gaga over this museum.

I was also happy that the museum also chose to honor a Filipino champion racer, Dodjie Laurel. Most Filipinos probably don’t know much about him and the accomplishments he did for the country. The youngest son of President Jose P. Laurel, Dodjie Laurel was the first person to consecutively win the Macau Grand Prix in 1962 and 1963.

The white car on display is the Lotus 22 Ford which he drove on those two races. Unfortunately, he died in 1964 trying to win the race for the third time. According to reports, he was actually the first casualty in the Macau Grand Prix.

The City Of Dreams

Right beside the famous casino called The Venetian is a cluster of hotels that includes The City of Dreams. Hours before our flight back to Manila, we decided to look into a few shows everyone was raving about. First on our list was the Dragon Show that I’ve already seen last year with my friends. I saw it for free back then and I was a bit surprised and disappointed that they started charging people to see it. All in the name of income, I suppose. Still, my boyfriend enjoyed the short entertainment and that’s good enough for me.

Actually, what we’re really doing there was killing time before we see The House of Dancing Water, the answer to Cirque du Soleil’s Zaia in The Venetian. It had a grander stage but the story line was a bit off. I think that the one of Zaia’s was more well thought out. However, this is not to say that it wasn’t a great spectacle. It’s truly amazing how they keep changing the stage. One moment there’s water everywhere and for just a second, when you get distracted by the amazing choreography, you’ll see all the water has disappeared and you now have a dry stage! Try to see it for yourself when you get to visit Macau.

Graffiti, Signs, and Casinos

Random photos while walking around Macau. Vintage looking poster is love! There was a skateboard park near our hotel and its surrounding walls had all of these creative graffiti. After eating at Ristorante Litoral, we went to the other side of the main island and looked into the casinos. We watched the dancing fountain show at Wynn Hotel and took loads of tourist photos near Casino Lisboa.
