I’m Willing To Eat Lotus Flowers Here
“Hey, wake up!” A friend of mine shook me awake as our ferry approached the dock. It was early in the afternoon when we arrived in Macau. We were only there for a short day trip to see the hype in The Venetian and to watch the light show at The City of Dreams.

I was a little bit disoriented getting off the ferry. The sea was on a wild roll and I was stupid enough to watch a movie in my iPod while on board.
We decided to go to the Venetian first to eat a little something before venturing out to explore. I started reminiscing about Venice the moment my feet stepped into it’s marble floors.

Unlike the actual Venice, the “streets” were free of trash and the canals didn’t smell like sewage. We wanted to check out the gaming tables in the casino section, but we didn’t have any show money with us.

Shopping at The Venetian was really convenient. They have this electronic map everywhere and most of the stores that I like was there. I didn’t get to buy anything though because of the cheating exchange rates. I’m going to be at the losing end if I use my HK dollars and get a pataca change.

There was an amazing card stack exhibit inside the Venetian. I was tempted to blow on it to topple it all down. I don’t know how a single guy can do something this insane.

I wanted to watch Zaia, the only Cirque du Soleil show in Macau, but I didn’t have any money and the show starts late at night. I had to go back to Hong Kong at 10:30 and we can’t miss the boat. So, Zaia will have to wait.

We finally headed off to The City of Dream to watch their free light show. The mermaids that greeted us at the entrance were very flirtatious.

The lightshow was spectacular! It was a great experience and I would gladly see it again. The room that we were led in was large and dome-shaped. A nice Filipino guard let us fall in front of the line. It’s nice to meet some of our fellow kababayans working hard

Macau is more than just a place teeming with casinos. It also has a historical district that’s worth visiting. However, if you enjoy casinos and having a night life, the Cotai Strip is the place for you. Make sure you check out the light show in The City of Dreams!
